Daughters of Isis
October 7, 2007
Daughers of Isis, Prince Hall Freemasonry
It was a night of pomp and pageantry this past summer for the Daughters of Isis, Al Hamid Court 203.
Each year the Daughters of Isis hosts its Commandress Ball to raise money for its many benefactors.
This year's theme was "Magic Night over Egypt," and what better spot to host its event than the grand ballroom of the Empress Casino in Joliet.
The Daughters of Isis of North and South America is a benevolent organization that stresses the development of powerful leaders, encourages health awareness among youth and adults, and provides services to help disabled and senior citizens. The ball raised about $4,000 for their efforts.
The group also recognizes and celebrates the historic and current achievement of African-American women.
The Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis, is an auxiliary of female family members of Prince Hall Shriners and was formally organized in 1910 at the annual session of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.
